IN the study of the visceral lesions in rheumatoid arthritis, the records of 192 cases having a diagnosis of arthritis were examined. These cases were obtained from the autopsy files-of the University of Minne-sota Pathology Department and associated local hospitals. Out of this group there were 81 which were frank suppurative arthritis, 61 were rheumatoid arthritis, and 29 were osteo-arthritis. There were 8 with tuberculous arthritis; 7 had a simple, chronic, non-suppurative, non-specific arthritis of undetermined itiology and involving only one joint; five had an acute inflammatory, non-suppurative arthritis, type undetermined, and 1 had gonorrheal arthritis.
