This research aimed to describe mothers ’ experiences, analyzing them in the light of the principles of the Kangaroo Mother Method (KMM), and discuss the mothers ’ contributions based on the meanings of these experiences for nursing actions. In data collection, a questionnaire was used that characterized the mothers ’ socioeconomic profile and, through focus groups, stories were obtained about the benefits of these experiences, which supported the construction of the following categories: survival and recovery of the baby; the mothers ’ daily life modified by the KMM and valuation of affective family bonds in the KMM.
