The wettability of acrylic and silicone soft denture-liners was improved by two methods of surface treatment. They consisted of for-mation of a thin film of silica from the application of silicon tetrachloride, and by cross-linking the surface molecules and bom-barding with hydroxyl free radicals. Softness and water sorption were monitored through-out the study. J Dent Res 56(8): 953-959 August 1977. Present day soft-lining materials are derived mainly from two sources, methacrylate or silicone polymers. They are limited in their use and are largely considered as temporary materials because they lack certain proper-ties necessary for long service in the ora
