Field-portable DNA biosensors have the potential to greatly improve diagnosis of disease, forensic DNA analysis, food safety monitoring, and biowarfare detection. These sensors detect hybridization of complementary strands of DNA, one immobilized onto the sensor substrate and the other free in solution.
