cc ct in teAn experimental model was developed in the pig, because of the structural similarity of the porcine subcutaneous and fascial layers to those of the human. The posterior thigh was noted to have a well-developed fascial layer over the hamstring muscle groups during preliminary dissections and this was chosen as the surgical site. Ten 3 week old weaned domestic pigs of matched weights were used, according to the protocol approved by the St. Vincent’s Hospital Animal Ethics Committee. Surgical procedure The pigs were anaesthetised with Halothane, the poster-ior thighs were shaved and an axial incision was made posteriorly on the thigh of each hindlimb.
