Some Consequences Arising from New Weak Currents in SU(3) x U(l) Models

In extended SU (3) XU (1) gauge models new types of weak currents are present. \Ve explore novel features of these currents such as trimuon production and enhanced higher order effects. With general mixing schemes rates of muon number nonconserving processes ami T- or CP- violating effects are computed. It ~was recently suggested that the standard SU(2) X U(l) gauge modeP> of weak and electromagnetic interactions may find an interesting extension in the enlarged gauge group o £ SU(3) X U(l).2>.sJ One of the most direct consequences of such enlarged schemes is that two hea>"Y leptons present as the third members of t\vo leptonic triplets of SU(3) may copiously be produced by high energy beams of known leptons such as V1,(D.J and p. Rate and characteristics of recently observ: eel trimuon events'> in neutrino reactions and also presumably in a partial sample of muon beam data, 5> are in good accord with the interpretation6> of cascade decay of produced heavy leptons.
