There are five (5) sacred forests in Emohua Local Government Area in Rivers, Nigeria. The area is situated in the Niger Delta region of the country. The forests include Abaka, Ovulikpo, Ohia, Ogbagoroggaro and Ogbagorigeri. These sacred sites are regarded as the temples of god by the local people due to their beliefs, but technically the forests are centres of biodiversity. In recent times, anthropogenic interference activities expose the forest to threat and challenges which make the development and adoption of conservation strategies inevitable.
