This study focuses on selected factors in the evaluation of faculty members in: (1) colleges accredited by the Association of Independent Colleges and Schools; (2) public junior and senior colleges; and (3) Rhode Island colleges. Results of the study indicate that faculty evaluation schemes must follow the basic goals and philosophy of the institution. Nearly all respondents indicated that faculty evaluation was used on a formal basis. The study concluded with appropriate recommendations for the implementation of a formal system of faculty evaluation.
