This study represents an analysis of eight games fromNational BroadcastingCompany’s broadcast of the 2010 Olympic ice hockey coverage. Since ice hockey is a sport considered to be ‘‘masculine,’ ’ the study is ground in hegemonic masculinity. The visual production techniqueswereanalyzedusingZettl’s appliedmedia aesthetics approach to analyze camera shots, angles, motion, and replays. Results show the women’s games to be more visually exciting through the use of camera shots, angles, and slow-motion replay effects. These findings, a departure fromprevious research, still reinforcenotions of hegemonic masculinity, portraying women’s ice hockey as the ‘‘inferior’ ’ event
