Metastatic leiomyosarcoma to the tongue

A 62-year-old woman with a known history of uterine leiomyosarcoma was seen at the otolaryn-gology clinic for evaluation of a tongue lesion. The patient was diagnosed with uterine leiomyo-sarcoma in 1997 and subsequently underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpin-gooopherectomy. The patient received several courses of chemotherapy and radiotherapy for metastatic spread to the lungs. In November 1998, the patient was seen with a 1-month history of a progressively enlarging painless mass on the dor-sum of the tongue.
