It is well known that abnormalities of the extensor pollicis brevis and sometimes of the extensor pollicis longus are found in congenital clasped thumb or arthrogryposis multiplex congenita. However, it is extremely rare to find cases of total absence of the finger extensors. Review of the literature has revealed only the two cases reported by the author in 1969 and one by Inokuchi in 1973. The cases seen to date by the author are shown in Table 1. The first three cases had total absence of the extensor digitorum communis, extensor indicis proprius and extensor pollicis longus muscles of both hands.
