THE UNIQUE KNOWING OF DISTRICT NURSES IN PRACTICE

There are many people who have supported me through my doctoral journey. First, I would like to offer my sincere gratitude to my supervisor, Professor Tara Fenwick, who challenged me and introduced me to new theories beyond the nursing literature. Second, to Dr. Kathleen Stoddart, who supported the nursing perspective of my study. Together they supported me to completion. Thanks also to the School of Education, University of Stirling, for the early taught days, that provided stimulating debate and the establishment of new relationships across professional boundaries. I will fondly remember the ‘hoody ’ days. I would like to thank the three Health Boards in Scotland who contributed to this study and all the participants who gave me their time.
