ii microRNA play important roles in the development and physiological function of hematopoietic stem/progenitor and mature cell lineages. In addition, deregulated microRNA expression and subsequent gene expression changes have been associated with hematopoietic cell deficiencies such as severe congenital neutropenia and hematologic malignancies such as acute myeloid leukemia. By incorporating microRNA regulation into well-established myeloid signal transduction pathways, such as the MAPK signaling cascade, we hope to shed light on targetable factors both upstream and downstream of microRNA signaling. These pathway-specific microRNA functions suggest scenarios wherein microRNA-based therapeutics may be beneficial either alon
