To study the effectiveness of intrauterine lidocaine comparing with placebo in conjunction with paracervical block for pain relief during fractional curettage. METHODS This is a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial. Two hundred and thirty patients were allocated to two groups, receiving either a 5-mL 2%lidocaine (n=115) or saline (n=115) intrauterine infusion and standard paracervical block before fractional curettage. Subjective pain experience was measured by100-mm visual analogue scale.
