This investigation was designed to determine the effects of a perceptual modeling concept on the verbal behaviors of student teachers in their student teaching experience. The major objectives were 1) to determine the effects on verbal behavior of a videotape versus a verbal presentation of an interaction analysis system, and 2) to identify those behaviors most affected by a perceptual modeling concept of a modified Flanders Interaction Analysis System. The 52 subjects included 14 social studies majors, 14 language arts majors, 14 science majors, and 10 math majors, and they were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups.
