(coexistent) chromophobe RCC and oncocytoma (so-called renal oncocytosis) with links to genetic disorders. These hybrid renal cell neoplasms contain areas of tumor cells displaying cytological features of chromophobe RCC and RO but which cannot be clearly diagnosed in either category. Such tumors occur in a familial setting (Birt-Hogg-Dube syn-drome) or sporadically. It is important to characterize the histological features and the subtype of the tumor, as this predicts biological behavior and cancer-spe-cific survival rate.
