A recent position paper (1) proposed standardization of the nomenclature of bone markers as outlined in Table 1. This position paper has been re-viewed and endorsed by the mem-bers of the Committee of Scientific Advisors of the International Osteo-porosis Foundation. We believe that standardizing the nomenclature of bone markers would be useful to avoid confusion in the literature, given the growing number of various assays, especially for measurement of bone resorption
