Hyperactivity: A Cultural Perspective

Most research on hyperactivity views the prob-lem as either organic or emotional in nature, originating exclusively within the child or his immediate home environment. By comparison, little research has taken into account the effect on this problem of the tremendous cultural changes wliich have occurred in the last cen-tury. A number of such cultural (and environ-mental) studies are reviewed, and a new direc-tion for further research on hyperactivity is suggested.
