In their interesting paper the authors present a new ad-vanced approach to the simulation of seismic wave propaga-tion in media described by Biot's theory of dynamic poroelas-ticity in two dimensions. The algorithm developed can be used to accurately simulate the effect of dynamic poroelasticity on seismic wavefields over hydrocarbon reservoirs. In cases where this effect proves significant this algorithm can be incorporated in the seismic modeling technology. The capacity of the algorithm is demonstrated by several numerical examples. These examples are meant to support the main conclusion of the paper, namely the potential usefulness of the algorithm for seismic modeling in hydrocarbon explora-tion.
