*Attitudes Toward College Inventory

Active and 'creative recruitment is necessary to compensate for Ahe fact that minority 4roup students may be disinclined to seek higher education. One such recruitment activity involves providing on-campus precollege experiences during which students cap become familiar with college life, begin career exploration=i and develop positive.attitudes toward college. The research described in this paper focused on'developing an evaluation procedure to measure such attitudes. One particular recruitment activity,'the Youthsummer program at the University of Wisconsin-Superior was studied. In the first phase of the study, the Attitudes Toward College Inventory (ATCI) was developed as a twelve7:i.tem instrument, employing five-_option Likert items.
