OBSERVATIONS ON SEVERAL CYCLOHEXYL- AND PHENYL-ALKYLAMINES’

While phenyl-alkylamines constitute the majority of substances investigated for “sympathomimetic activity”, a number of alkylamines with heterogeneous nuclei also have been studied (Alles, 1941; Gunn and Gurd, 1940; Lands et al., 1945; Marsh, 1948). Gunn and Gurd (1940) reported on the effect of dl-1-cyclohexyl-2-amino-propane (No. 10) on motor activity in mice and Lands et al. (1945) published on the pressor potency of dl-1-cyclohexyl-2-methylaminopropane (No. 25). The pressor and isolated tissue activity of Nos. 10 and 25 was determined by Marsh (1948). In the present experiments the pharmacological activity of Nos. 10 and 25 have been compared with corresponding phenyl analogues (Nos. 1 and 4).3 MOTOR ACTIVITY. In the case of rats the method of Szymanski (1918) was used to record total movement of a single animal.
