Plasma insulin and glucose concentrations are impor-tant quantitative phenotypes related to diabetes and the metabolic syndrome. Reports purporting to identify quantitative trait loci (QTLs) that contribute to the variation in fasting insulin and glucose concentrations are discrepant.
