Sciences at Stanford University has operated a three-year computer-assisted instruction (CAI) network for hearing-impaired or deaf students; the effectiveness of the two main curricula in the program, elementary mathematics and language arts, was evaluated. The computer network spans the United States and in it three years has Involved 5,000 deaf students. The curriculom in elementary mathematics is divided into strands, serie. t related problems, and the language arts program tries to teach gr,., atical rules by the inductive approach.
