The purpose of this study was to determine whether older adults dissatisfied with the amount of social support they had received were more likely to rate their health as poorer than elderly people satisfied with the support they had received. Suggested by the findings was that satisfaction with support was an important determinant of self-perceived health and that this relationship remained significant after controlling for the effects of the amount of support that was provided
