Intensity measurement has opened new prospects in many areas of diagnostic acoustics, but it is generally accompanied by the need for greater data gathering, strict discipline in measurement procedure, and involved data processing prior to result assessment. One conseguence is the introduction of additional areas of potential error. This paper presents the semi-automated procedures developed at the Centre for Building Studies to minimize user error in the running of a typical laboratory test.
