In recent years a good few zoomorphic clay figurines have been found in Swedish Neolithie material. Similar figurines are also known from Finland, Estonia and Latvia. This paper presents new finds and reviews the discussion of the subject. The author's special aim is however to perform a functional analysis of the role of the figurines in the prehistoric cultural patterns
