There appears to be a link between sex role patterns and the drinking habits of Australian female adolescents. Researchers polled 1,441 female high school students about their drinking habits, feminine and masculine characteristics, and their views of women in society. Respondents who drank more frequently tended to drink more heavily. These respondents also tended to have more progressive views on women and had a more masculine orientation
