The speed of change in organisations is now so fast that the normal human forgetting processes cannot cope. Writers in the areas of adult learning and human resource development are therefore showing increasing interest in the need for unlearning. This paper examines two contemporary learning theories, as well as traditional principles of learning, to examine how these theories need to be re-interpreted to help understand unlearning
