The standardized approach to Mobile ATM network handover is a hard backward or forward handover scheme with no guarantees for the integrity of the data stream. These handover functions are detailed in this paper and a more perfor-mant virtual connection handover protocol, using in-slot signaling techniques in order to facilitate loss less handover, is introduced. The QoS aspects related to this scheme are discussed and its OAM implementation is presented
