Biomass contains chemical energy which is a transformed Sun radiation. This energy can be used in many different ways. One of these is a direct combu-stion which is the most popular. The direct combustion of biomass is a technology which is well proven in large-scale heat and power generation. However, the situ-ation in the small-scale heat generation is not so good.
