Platinum Opinion Methods and Priorities of Robotic Surgery Training Program

Robotic surgery has emerged as a new technology over the last decade and has brought with it new challenges, particularly in terms of teaching and training. As with the introduction of any new surgical technology, a structured training program has to be developed to ensure better surgical outcomes and patient safety, whichmust not be compromised during the learning process. A well-organized educational curriculum as well as proficiency-based credentialing processes are required to ensure the safe and efficacious clinical application of new technologies. To date, there are no validated training programs for robotic surgery.
