Vision 2020; the right to sight was conceived in Geneva in 1999. The initiative has brought about revolution in eye care and services and blindness prevention in general. It did actually align the goals of all partners especially in blindness prevention, providing a compass and goal congruence for all to pull in one direction towards a world free of blindness. Most of stakeholders are now clear that you can only comprehensively deliver eye care by supporting the three pillars of Vision 2020, i.e cost effective control of blinding diseases, infrastructure and technology development, and human resource development1.
