Elevated nighttime blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR), increased BP and HR variabili-ty, and altered diurnal variations of BP and HR (nighttime dipping and morning surge) in pa-tients with systemic hypertension are each associated with increased adverse cardiovascular events.
