PAN-AFRICANISM VERSUS PAN-AFRICAN NATIONALISM

It is the contention of this writer that the historical struggle of African peoples has heretofore been analyzed within a Eurocentric, dysfunctional, ahistorical, and divisive context, thus culminating in the use of the concept of Pan-Africanism. This article suggests that in analyzing the struggle of African peoples from its proper historical, unifying, and holistic perspective, we must speak in terms of Pan-African Nationalism and not Pan-Africanism.
