Future military waveforms are most probably implemented on software defined radios capable to handle several waveforms. Implementation of several waveforms would require design of several receiver chains. In order to ease these design tasks, this paper describes a universal frequency domain baseband receiver structure. The structure may be used as a starting point to design receiver basebands for different waveforms, which simplifies the design process. Indeed, the design issue is reduced to plan the contents of different building blocks. The paper explains how the structure should be used for multicarrier and single carrier signal demodulation, fast synchronization even with large carrier frequency offset, channel estimation, interference ...
