Liege University has recently set up a whole-body counter for clinical use. The main proposed uses are the measurement of body potassium using 40K and metabolic studies using single tracers. High sensi tivity is required to reduce the counting time, and good geometry is necessary to avoid complex cali bration and errors arising from various distributions of isotopes within the body (1).
