School administrators risk becoming an anachronism if their preparation programs in schools, colleges, and departments of education do not respond to calls for change in preparing them for professional leadership functions. Provided in this report is a discussion of the status of educational administration, including state initiatives for reform and criticism of current preparation programs. Also proposed for deliberation are recommendations for restructuring educational administration programs in schools, colleges, and departments of education.
