Mastocytosis is a heterogenous group of disorders caused by the proliferation and accumulation of neoplastic mast cells. In the pediatric population, mastocytosis is typically limited to the skin (cutaneous mastocytosis) and follows an indolent clinical course with excellent prognosis. More aggressive disorders, such as mast cell leukemia and myelomastocytic leukemia, most commonly present in adult patients, with only a few cases reported in the pediatric population.
