First of all, I want to say how enormously grateful I am to the editors of Dialogues and also to my Cambridge colleague David Nally, for making this review forum possible. Most of all, I am indebted to the six reviewers for taking the time to review and comment on Geographies of Regulation. Their responses are too kind, in the main, but they raise several pertinent and important criticisms, and it is good to have the opportunity to respond to these points, and to clarify and develop some of the arguments in the book. Geographies of Regulation is a contribution to the historiography of prostitution and its policing, and is certainly intended to disrupt some of the eas-ier, more conventional and convenient readings o
