Hydrogen prnduced by the action of oxalic acid on aluminum is an effective agent for t.he re-moval of iron oxide coatings from mineral grains, and, because the method is rapid and simple, it is recommended for routine analvsis of granular materials. Data are presented to compare the results obtained by this method with those produced by the use of various other reagents
