As globalization intensifies and economic competition grows fiercer, African countries are seeking new avenues to be relevant in the world economy. Through the adoption of new economic development models, these coun-tries hope to diversify their economies and spur economic growth. A strat-egy that countries could explore for economic development is the pursuit of a policy that systematically and deliberately courts the active participation of members of the African diaspora in the development plans and programs of such countries.
