Objective: The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between blood ghrelin, leptin and lipid levels of breast milk and maternal weight loss in postpartum period. Methods: Sixty-two mothers were subdivided according to babies dietary patterns; as breastfed (BF), BF plus formula-fed (BF+FF) and formula-fed (FF). All participating mothers were evaluated twice. Results: On the first visit, in BF group total/active ghrelin ratio and serum leptin levels were lower than FF group (p<0.05). The milk leptin levels of BF group were higher than BF+FF group on both visits (p<0.001, p<0.05 respectively).
