This study attempts to measure the attitudes toward intellectual freedom held by a group of future librarians and tc correlate these findings with certain syndromes of authoritarianism as reported in "The Authoritarian Perscnality, " by T. W. Adcrno, and others (New York, Harper, 1950). The hypothesis is that graduate library students whc express approval of or display a tendency tc agree with restrictive controls cn intellectual freedom will also ccncur uith many of the attitudes characteristic cf the authoritarian syndrome. If the hypothesis is correct, thcse students whcse cpinions score high cn a censorship scale will also score high on the authoritarianism scale (Fascism or F scale).
