This study explored how the leadership behaviors of an elementary principal in establishing school climate affects teacher productivity and teacher behaviors in the school. In addition, the facets of security and strength were explored as the underlying premise to school climate. The Organizational Climate Questionnaire for Elementary Schools-Revised was administered to five urban Connecticut schools as part of the selection process for the study. Three schools were selected, two that scored on that questionnaire as having an open climate, and one that scored with a closed climate.
