Background: Characterize pelvic floor symptom distress and impact, sexual function and quality of life in women after rectal prolapse surgery. Methods: Subjects undergoing rectal prolapse surgery from 2004-2009 completed questionnaires including the Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory, Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire, and the Prolapse/Urinary Incontinence Sexual Questionnaire. Baseline demographic, medical, and surgical characteristics were extracted by chart review. Demographic and clinic outcomes of women undergoing transper-ineal and abdominal approaches were compared.
