The mass media in modern sports can be considered from a number of viewpoints. Sports press and sports events often represent the last thread linking countries, societies and political systems. Thus a sociologically oriented study of the mass media in sports must begin with the communication crisis present today throughout the world. Accurate information is necessary. The work of sportswriters is demanding and responsible. Their work should primarily be guided by respect for the athlete as a creative individual, by his endeavors and finally by consideration of his human attributes.
