When reflecting upon research it may be disheartening to realise that a lifetime’s work for one individual may only answer a small question, about a single phenomenon, in a small part of a single discipline. One way to compensate for this, if needed, is to have unshakeable faith that one is contributing to a ‘bigger picture’.
