To overcome the non-uniqueness problem arising in integral equations for the exterior boundary-value problems for the Helmholtz equation, Jones recently suggested adding a series of outgoing waves to the free-space fundamental solution. We present an analysis on the appropriate choice of the coefficients occurring in this series in order to minimize the condition number of the integral equations. 1
