40 % of women Assembly Members (AM). In 2003, female representation increased to 50%, thought to be a world record in female representation in a legislative decision-making body. This edited volume considers how and why such representation was achieved in the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) and examines its impact across a range of diverse policy areas. In par-ticular, the contributions evaluate progress made through the ‘duty of equal-ity’, originating from the Government of Wales Acts 1998/2006, which seek to promote equality for all people in Wales.
