Many changes have taken place in the dissemination of agricultural information in the one hundred years since the first establishment of land grant colleges and state experiment stations in the United States. Most dramatic is the change in the types of reports and documents published by the state agricultural experiment stations (AES). Using New Jersey as an example, this article will present an overview of the major types of publications of the state agricultural experiment station in its first century of existence, and examine the several factors that may have contributed to a change in traditional methods of publishing agricultural information.
